It’s not just third party but the hospitals that buy the equipment and want to service it to save on repair expenses. For example, Stryker is a proprietary company that has their own service group. They charge $1200 to repair foot switch that cost $600 to purchase. There are many more OEM’s that have the same practices. If the facilities are being gouged for repair of a foot switch, how much are for the equipment? They refuse to sell the parts for that same foot switch. MITA is just a tit for tat group working to protect the OEM profits. The ISO’s and hospitals with internal service actually want to save their customers money.
